Cliffedale Chandlers also had other teams playing which provided excellent experience to a new pool of talent coming out of the club. Arguably Cliffedale Chandlers' most improved player this season Nathan Butler even ended up playing in the 2nd division where he certainly wasn't out of his league.
The competition also provided real competition experience for the likes of Jessica Easter, Grace Potter, Hibah Abrah and Sam Chan.

CCTTC had a number of players in this very highly rated tournament with outstanding results! Notably Gavin Evans won the main event of the weekend and of the tournament taking the Junior Boys Open title beating Liam Pitchford (Dy) 3 sets to 1 in an epic final late on Sunday. Other successes for the club came from Adam Harrison who came runner up in the Junior Boys Banded Event losing a tightly fought final to Dan Fielding (Ca) 9-11, 10-12, 11-7, 12-14 and Hannah Noutch played well to get to the semi finals of the Junior Girls Banded Event where she just lost to Naomi Jackson, the eventual winner. Matt Leete progressed through the Under 13 Boys Event to the 3rd round and Adam secured some good wins in the Cadet Boys Open to reach the round of the last 32. Performances also came from Olivia Churchill, Ross Jarvis, Tom Jarvis and Peter Claxton who represented the club in a number of different events across the 2 day tournament.
The C team of Olivia Churchill, Viran Silva and William Cherry gained valuable experience in Division 1 with Olivia gaining four wins on the day. Our young element in team D and E found Division 2 quite a challenge but again gained valuable experience for the future.

Cliffedale Chandlers made a good start to this year’s National Cadet League campaign at Wellingborough on Sunday 18th October with notable successes in all three Divisions.
Division 1
Cliffedale A team finished the first round on 23 points just 2 points behind Bedford Modern, our old rivals, at the top with match results the same for both teams. Individual results saw Gemma Griffin winning 7 out of her 10 matches, Ross Jarvis winning 8 out of 10 and Harrison Chalkley 8 out of 10. The B team, also playing in Division 1, ended the day on 14 points with Tom Jarvis winning 6 out of 10 matches, Scott Evans 5 out of 10 and Hannah Noutch 3 out of 10.
Division 2
Cliffedale C did extremely well to achieve top spot with a total 25 points. Jack Crawford won 9 out of his 10 matches with Olivia Churchill and Viran Silva both winning 8 of their 10 contests. Our D team also gave a good performance ending on 16 points with Aiden Smith being the top player on the day winning all his 10 matches. Elliott Brown and Tom Parry gave Aiden good support winning 6 matches between them.
Division 3
Cliffedale E achieved the second spot on 15 points with Nathan Butler winning 7 out of 8 matches and Hibah Abra and Jessica Easter winning 4 each.
Saturday
First game up was a top of the table clash between us and Woodfield who the previous weekend had won all their matches 8-0. Chandlers didn’t get off to a good start losing the first three matches. However, a fantastic win for Sasha brought it back to 3-1. 3-1 became 4-1 and the team’s first loss of the campaign looked certain. Excellent Chandlers’ team spirit was evident though as Chris picked up a fantastic maximum win which was followed by nail biting five setters for Sasha and Susie both going Chandlers way both picking up maximum wins. An excellent top of the table clash ended in a 4-4 draw.
In the afternoon was Rugby. A fairly straightforward match for the team, Chandlers winning 6-2. However, on the next table, Woodfield drew, giving Chandlers a 1 point lead at the top of the table.
Sunday
Onto the morning match and it was Team Tameside who had some strong players. The match went down to the final game with Chandlers leading 4-3. We felt we needed to win this to keep us top of the table. Again Susie showed her strong mentality coming through yet another nail biting five setter victorious to give us the win 5-3. Again Woodfield drew their match which put us two points clear at the top.
Chandlers had now played all 7 teams in their division, winning 6 and drawing 1 remaining unbeaten.
Into the afternoon was the local derby match Vs Spartans. With all Chandlers’ players being in top form, the team came out victorious 7-1 with Chris being awarded the umpires player of the match.
At the end of the second weekend, Chandlers lead the division by two points.
Cliffedale Chandlers made their debut in the Senior British League this weekend with a team consisting of Chris Turner, Nick Rate, Sasha Martin, Susie Steeples. Looking to gain promotion, the first match of their campaign was ironically against fellow Grantham side also making their debut, Spartans. After some tense and nail biting moments in some of the matches, Chandlers managed to come through victorious 5-3.
After getting the first match nerves out of the way, the team went from strength to strength beating a team from the Isle of Mann 6-2. A great first day for the team especially for Sasha who remained unbeaten all day.
On the Sunday, first up was well known club Ormesby who fielded a different team to the Saturday so wasn’t sure what to expect knowing the great reputation and resources they have. However, the club battled through and came out victorious 6-2 with excellent wins for all players.
So to the final match up of the weekend, Chandlers had to face another team that remained unbeaten all weekend, Northfield 3. Chandlers were given a chance, due to unforeseen circumstances, Northfield could only field 3 players. With excellent wins for Nick and Chris, Chandlers came out victorious 5-3 and remained undefeated all weekend gaining maximum points.
