Meet the Coaches
Cliffedale Chandlers has an extremely strong and experienced coaching team, many of our coaches have played or coached at county level and above. All of our coaches are fully licensed (CRB checked and insured) and many have bridged and are in the middle of bridging from their ETTA coaching qualification to the new UKCC coaching frame work. All of our coaches have a first aid qualification and have attended child protection workshops.
Each session is lead by a head coach and well supported by one or two other coaches on each session
On Tuesdays Cathy Steeples former Junior County player and UKCC Level Two runs the session. Cathy is also a very experienced tournament organiser and Tournament Referee who is the lead on all our National and local competitions. As well as all of this Cathy is extremely experienced at working with children as she is a full time teacher.
Saturday Mornings is lead by Darran Leete UKCC Level Two. Darran is an extremely experienced table tennis coach and player who with his experience has helped to develop the clubs Saturday morning sessions. He is also an experienced tournament coach travelling around the tournament circuits with his son Matthew and our Junior British league teams.
We also have a lot of school development going on, with Alex Green (SSP/ SWLSSP Club Coach) and John Mapletoft (SSP Club Coach).
Alex Green is part of an ETTA club link providing the club with twenty hours of school, club and coach development each week. Alex originally from Lincolnshire is a current ETTA Level Three coach who coached in London (TTK Greenhouse) and the South East (Regional Coach) for five years professionally before moving back up to Lincolnshire.
The club also has a very strong development team headed by Chris Turner UKCC Level Two Coach. Chris also has a 2:1 degree in Sports Development and Coaching.
We also have other strong volunteers who are all qualified coaches in Matt Weavers – UKCC Level One, Alex Mercer UKCC Level One and a National Umpire, Peter May -International Umpire and Russell Winfield - UKCC Level Two.
