England Schools call up for Adam Harrison.
On Thursday 23rd of JuneAdam was asked to step in, as a late reserve, to the England Schools Intermediate B team for the Butterfly Schools International Championships, which were being held over the weekend of Saturday June 25th and Sunday June 26th.
Playing at Lilleshall with Liam McTiernan the B Team won their group by beating Wales A, Scotland A, Jersey, and Guernsey B. They then met Ireland A team in the semi final, but lost this 3-1. They then defated Wales A again to secure the bronze medal.
On the Sunday all the players played in the individual tournament, Adam won his group, and then his next knockout round to progress to the semifinal. There he played the experienced Scott BARTON, who played for the Scotland Senior team the day before, although he was an intermediate. Adam got off to a flying start taking the first set. This brought out the fight in Barton who may have been thinking he was going to get an easy ride to the finals. Barton won the second game. Adam raised his game again and fought back hard in the third. In a very close fought game Barton won in the tiebreak. The fourth set was also well contested by both players with many long loop to loop rallies, but it was Barton who won the fourth game and the match 3-1. Although not progressing to the final Adam won another Bronze medal by reaching the semifinal.
All weekend Adam was coached by Alex Green who offered excellent advice and support.
All in all an superb weekend, stepping in at the last minute and coming back to Grantham with 2 bronze medals.
